The Legends of Superior Trails Inc. was incorporated and founded as a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization in 2015. The group was established in 2007 as part of the economic diversification planning by the Town of Superior.
Together with the Town of Superior, Tonto National Forest and the Arizona Trail Association, the LOST trail was built, it is the first Gateway Community Connector Trail connected to the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
As the years have passed the group worked through a variety of challenges including the expansion of the US 60 highway which forced a full trail re-alignment. The re-alignment was an opportunity to connect the Arnett Canyon to the LOST and into the historic Pinal City area.
In early 2020, with the help of an Americorps Crew, the Town of Superior and the LOST Inc. completed the final alignments of trails from Pinal City, through the Town of Superior and into the Queen Creek Canyon ending at the historic Claypool Tunnel on the original US 60 highway. When the original highway was completed in 1922 the highway was the first million dollar a mile highway and connected the bustling mining towns of Superior and Globe/Miami.
